To be fair the guys numbers work.

5 months is roughly 153 days (I used 30.5 days/month since there isn't an exact number of days per month) so that means 9.6 hours a day. So lets round up to 10 hours (as you did). He gets 5 hours of sleep per day so that means 15 hours accounted for. A 40 hour work week means and average of 5.7 hours per day so you are at 20.7 hours per day.

That leaves an average of 3.3 hours a day of "other" time and that is more than enough time for a small hobby.

Even further, lets assume that they worked 8 hours a day for 5 days (instead of 5.7 for 7 days), spent an hour eating, and five hours sleeping that only accounts for 14 hours a day - that leaves a full ten hours a day. That means that his weekend would need to only be 10 hours play plus 5 hours sleeping (15 hours) and that leaves 9 hours on those two days for "other". So they could even go to a movie, have a date, or any other number of things (especially true if the significant other also is obsessive about video games and GW)..

That's not to say that their life didn't mostly revolve around GW and work - it obviously does. But I bet that if most added up the time they spend watching TV it wouldn't be much different. Some of us do not - myself I spend most of my free time at my local archery range (in my three years of GW I have roughly 1700 hours account wide - part of the reason it took so long for me to get KoaBD rank 1). But then I can't say archery is a better way to spend time than GW - though I will generally say that *any* interactive activity is better than those hours spent watching TV.

You have 24 hours a day - most will spend 8 hours working (or at least on the payroll), another hour eating, and 8 sleeping for five days of the week. That means that 17 hours are accounted for on 5 days a week and that leaves 7 hours a day through the week to do something else. Weekends will normally see 8 hours of sleep with 2 hours of eating so that leaves 14 hours of to do what you want. So you have 63 hours to do what you want with. GW (or other games) aren't a bad way to spend it, especially for people without kids that need their time. It's WAY better than watching TV which is what many do.

Thanks Strcpy...

keep in mind though that 10,000 of those minutes was spent afk getting drunk in the guild hall... on average i could burn through a stack a night... which only counts for 4 hours and 10 minutes ( 250 minutes a stack ) after the stack is burned i am left standing there in the guild hall till i get home from work or wake up racking up more AFK minutes doing nothing... i could easily say that 250 to 300 hours of that time is all AFK... it was not uncommon for me to throw on a stack before taking off to a show or concert...

Maybe not the fastest way to KOABD1, but I was never that interested in titles, though I did pursue some for some time. The ones I truly enjoyed were Protectors and then, when HM was released, Legendary Guardian. I completed the HM part of Legendary Guardian pre-consumables in about two weeks or so, with a friend. The NM Protector's side I had already done before. All told, without anything I'd call grinding per se, you can get KOABD1 through Legendary Guardian I'd think pretty easily within a couple weeks, faster even, depending on how often you play. That was the one title track I truly enjoyed.
